  • In shaping the technology strategy of Network Electronic Transfers - more commonly known as NETS - David Woo’s priority is centred around digital enablement.

As the region’s leading payments services group, NETS processes approximately $1 trillion in transactional value through its systems annually, creating a need for constant and fast-paced innovation.

In holding the responsibility of Group Chief Technology Officer, Woo was tasked with digitally overhauling Nets bank cards on third-party merchant mobile applications, to achieve seamless payment processes for users.

Woo spearheaded the project which created mass enablement of Nets QR to accept payment from more than 20 Singapore and foreign payment wallets and mobile banking applications across over 12,000 Hawker centres and food and beverage locations in the city-state.

The innovation of the Nets digital card was driven by the need to “continuously improve” the customer experience of card holders, allowing users to access Nets to pay directly from merchant mobile applications.

The technological and cultural challenge of the transformation was overcome by a new team of solution architects and project managers, each familiar with digital payment implementation to ensure the successful completion of the prophecy.

Woo and his team leveraged mobile device security during the deployment, alongside artificial intelligence solutions to enhance fraud monitoring.
